Possible Causes
-
Browser cache or cookies are outdated or corrupted

For security reasons, shopping sessions will time out if the page is open too long without activity. -
Browser compatibility issues
Some older browsers or certain browser extensions can interfere with checkout pages. -
Multiple tabs open for the same store session
Opening the store in several tabs can sometimes confuse the session and trigger a timeout. -
Network interruptions or slow connections
If the browser cannot complete the request to the server in time, a timeout may occur. -
Security settings or browser extensions
Ad blockers, privacy settings, or VPNs can sometimes interrupt the checkout process.

Clear your browsers cache and cookies
-
Try placing your order using a different browser
-

Why is a shipping address required for a digital product?
Sales Tax Regulations
Your shipping address is used to determine whether sales tax applies to your order. Tax rules for digital products vary by state, so the address allows the system to calculate the correct tax. It is used only for tax purposes and does not affect delivery of your digital files.
Received incorrect items or quantities?
Please email bookstore@carf.org with your order number and a description of the issue so we can assist in resolving it.
Help with Digital Downloads
Did not receive your link?
-
The digital download link is sent to the email address entered in the billing information section at checkout. If someone else received the order confirmation or receipt, please check with them to see if they also received the download email. They can forward the email to you as the end user so you can access the files.
-
Check your junk or spam folder: Because the download email is automated and contains a link, it may sometimes be filtered into your junk or spam folder.
Still cannot access your content? Please email bookstore@carf.org with your order number and a brief description of the issue, and our team will be happy to help.
Error Message: The Digital Download has reached its maximum number of allowed downloads
This error can occur because each time the "I accept, download files" link is clicked, it may automatically download the file instead of asking where you want it to be saved. If the file downloads automatically, it can count toward the download limit even if you did not realize it was saved.
To check if the file downloaded automatically, open your browser and press Ctrl + J. This will display your download history, where you can see if the file was saved to a different folder.
The file will appear with a name similar to 9624-17_2024_ECS_SM (or something similar).
If you have reached the maximum download limit, please email bookstore@carf.org with your order number, and we will reset the download link for you.
Error Message: The Digital Download has expired
Digital downloads must be accessed and downloaded within 90 days of purchase, in accordance with the user license agreement. If the file is not downloaded within this timeframe, the download link will expire.
If your download link has expired, please email bookstore@carf.org with your order number, and we will reset the download link for you.
Cannot edit from the PDF?
The digital download includes both RTF (Word) files and a PDF version. The RTF files are fully editable, so you can add notes, links, or other custom content. The PDF version is read-only, but it is provided as a printable copy of the publication.
